The recent "2023 Asia-Pacific Teacher Education International Conference" held at National Taiwan Normal University brought together scholars and experts from 11 countries. The conference, themed "Connecting Multiculturalism, Sustainability, and Teacher Education," delved into discussions on the integration of teacher training with diverse cultures and sustainability.
Keynote speaker, Professor Tarozzi from the University of Bologna, emphasized the impact of Global Citizenship Education (GCE) on teacher training, emphasizing its importance in providing teachers with the necessary knowledge and skills for global citizenship education.
The conference featured three keynote speeches, six academic paper presentations, two dean's forums, three international panel discussions, and a Taiwan Education Alliance (TEA) forum. The diverse topics covered included education system responsiveness, teacher professionalization, interdisciplinary research for multicultural and sustainable education, preparation in multicultural societies, and teacher adaptation to emerging technologies.
Dean Tien Hsiu-Lan of NTNU's College of Education expressed excitement about the fruitful discussions on connecting teacher training with multiculturalism and sustainability. The second day included discussions among deans from various countries and cross-national panel discussions, promising a rich and insightful continuation of the conference.
