PRESIDENT'S LETTER 理事長的話

Dear friends,

Welcome to APATE. As new teacher education trends lead to innovative teaching and learning , we will see an increase in emerging technologies to support learning. In the past few years, we held education dean’s forums and workshops regularly. With the productive exchange and accomplishment of these events, our participating scholars proposed establishing an association for teacher education to connect scholars in the Asia-Pacific. The Association, as a result, was established in 2020, and has been regularly hosting and organizing events to promote academic exchange and

collaboration in teacher education. We are committed to enhance the quality of research in teacher education, to promote exchange programs for teacher educational practices, and to explore potential collaborations among educational institutes in the Asia-Pacific region.

The APATE, in collaboration with the Taiwan Education Alliance, convened our second annual conference on November 18-19, 2022, themed “Educational Innovation and Teacher Education in the New Normal”. With our keynote speakers, panelists, presenters and discussants invited from over ten countries, attendees exchanged ideas and explored on pandemic-related issues. The discussions in both the in-person and online sessions were insightful and responsive to the development of teacher education systems, teaching practices and research, in and across different contexts. The conference was a resounding success as a whole, as local experiences were made accessible and acknowledged by educators from different nations, disciplines, and stages.

We are looking forward to the in-person academic exchanges in our next annual conference, when scholars and APATE members from different countries may finally come together in Taiwan to promote the cohesion and solidarity of scholars in the Asia-Pacific region, to make a thorough inquiry into the future-oriented schooling, and to engage in international collaboration in teacher education practices and research.

The Association would not have been a success without your insights and support. On behalf of the Asia-Pacific Association for Teacher Education, I would like to welcome scholars, students and educators from the Asia-Pacific region to become our members and share your knowledge and experience in the future.
