About the Conference

The 2026 APATE Annual Conference is jointly organized by APATE, the Teacher Education Society (TEA), and the College of Education at National Taiwan Normal University. The conference brings together scholars, researchers, and practitioners to examine the evolving social value of teachers amid rapid global change.

Conference Sub-themes

We invite submissions that engage with, but are not limited to:

  1. Public Trust, Professional Status, and Social Legitimacy in Education

  2. Professional Autonomy, Accountability, and Educational Governance

  3. Teaching, Learning, and Education in Transforming and Uncertain Societies

  4. Ethics, Care, and the Moral Foundations of Education

  5. Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Justice in Education

  6. Knowledge, Curriculum, and Epistemic Trust

  7. Digitalization, AI, and Human Judgment in Education

  8. Teacher Education, Wellbeing, and Sustainable Professional Development

  9. Leadership, Policy, and Institutional Change in Education

  10. Emerging Issues and Interdisciplinary Perspectives in Education

Session Categories & Requirements

A. Scholarly Individual Paper Presentations

  • Eligibility/ Target Participants:

    • Scholars, researchers, practitioners, and postgraduate  students

  • Submission Requirement:

    • Title: Maximum 15 words

    • Abstract: Maximum 1,000 words

    • Full paper submission: Optional but encouraged

  • Review Process:

    • Evaluated based on academic quality, originality, and relevance to conference themes

  • Presentation Format:

    • 20-minute presentation + 10-minute discussion

    • Co-authored papers permitted

    • At least one author must complete conference registration

B. Young Scholar Session (Graduate Student Research Forum)

Designed to support graduate students in developing research skills, promoting international scholarly engagement, and fostering the next generation of educational researchers.

  • Eligibility/ Target Participants:

    • Currently enrolled Master’s or Doctoral students

    • Must be first author and presenting author

    • One submission per applicant

  • Submission Requirement:

    • Title: Maximum 15 words

    • Abstract: Maximum 1,000 words

    • Full Paper (mandatory): 3,000–5,000 words (excluding references)

    • Both abstract and full papers must be submitted by the official deadline

  • Review Process:

    • Evaluated criteria:

      • Clarity of research purpose

      • Theoretical grounding

      • Appropriateness of methodology

      • Coherence of analysis

      • Academic writing quality

  • Presentation Format:

    • 20-minute presentation + 10-minute discussion

  • Additional Notes:
    Outstanding papers will receive the Best Graduate Student Paper Award.​

C. Poster Session (if applicable)

  • In-person presentation required (or designated representative)

  • Submission requirements are the same as those for Individual Paper Presentations (Title and abstract up to 1,000 words; full paper optional).

Note: The Program Committee reserves the right to determine the final presentationformat.

Submission Guidelines

  1. The acceptance of a submitted abstract will be determined by the peer-review committee.

  2. Writing style: APA (7th Edition) format.

  3. Language of submission and presentation: English.

  4. Full paper submission is mandatory for the Young Scholar Session.

  5. All submissions will undergo a peer-review process.

  6. At least one author must complete conference registration to present.

Note: All submissions must be original and unpublished. The conference submission system will be used for both abstract and full paper submissions.
