The Asia-Pacific Association for Teacher Education (APATE) is pleased to announce its 2025 Annual Conference, which will take place from October 24-25 of 2025. The conference theme is "Teacher Education in the Age of AI: Making a Difference in the Asia-Pacific Region"

The previous conferences of the APATE focused on innovative, upheaving approaches in the educational sector. Amid these, the explosive growth of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in recent years has ushered in a new phase in pedagogy.
Taiwan’s education system is therefore marching towards AI education with advanced digital learning, and personalized, adaptive learning experiences.
Alongside Taiwan, many around the globe describe the intensification of AI usage as an irreversible march into the AI era. However, with AI increasingly adopted in educational practices, let alone the expanding literature, it is necessary to assess its significance in enhancing educational practices, or vice versa, its potential to introduce underlying issues. Beyond booming classroom practices, questions remain regarding the transitioning role of teachers, as well as the position of practitioners in teacher education.
